KENWOOD COVE WATERPARK

LIFEGUARD I
(15 years of age or older)
· Works under the supervision of the Aquatics Supervisor and/or Assistant Aquatics Mangers.
· This classification is the entry level of the lifeguard series working under immediate supervision.
· This classification is categorized as part-time or seasonal in support of programs at the Kenwood Cove Waterpark.
Duties:
· Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility.
· Monitors designated areas & warns swimmers of unsafe situations.
· Maintains order in swimming areas.
· Explains & enforces waterpark rules & regulations to ensure the safety of all waterpark patrons.
· Assists with cleaning & maintenance of waterpark facilities.
· Uses hand tools to clean the pool & pool area.
· May assist with swimming lessons.
· Administers basic first aid, if needed.
· Responds in emergency situations in any capacity within scope of training.
· Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education:
· Eighth grade graduate.
Certifications:
· Training available.
· Lifeguard training certification with Waterpark Skills from the American Red Cross.
· First Aid & CPR/AED certifications.
Desired Qualifications:
· Must be able to follow instructions.
· Maintains a high standard of customer service.
· Maintains positive & cooperative working relationships.
· Works outdoors in changing environmental conditions; must be able to work in temperatures which often exceeds 90 degrees.
· Communicates well with patrons of various ages from diverse backgrounds.
· Demonstrates kindness to patrons & presents professional attitude at all times.
· Must be able to communicate verbally & in writing.
Requirements:
· This is a non-driving position.
· Performs all job tasks according to rules, guidelines & expectations of Aquatics Supervisor.
· Must have reliable transportation to-and-from work.
· Must be available to work shifts.
· Must attend required trainings & meetings.
· Required to review posted event calendars.
· Must follow scheduling protocols & be able to obtain weekly work schedule.
· Must follow time & attendance guidelines.
· Must adhere to payroll requirements.
· Must respond in a timely manner to all forms of communication regarding City of Salina employment by way of phone calls, emails, texts, etc.
· Must be able to lift 10-40 pounds frequently.
· Fifteen-year-olds may not enter or work in any chemical storage areas including any areas where the filtration & chlorinating systems are housed.
· Fifteen-year-olds may be stationed at the splashdown pools located at the bottom of elevated water slides.
· Fifteen-year-olds may not be employed as attendants or slide monitors at the top of an elevated water slide.
Pay:
$12.13 - 14.13/hr. DOQ
LIFEGUARD II
HEAD GUARD
(16 yrs. of age or older)
· Works under the supervision of the Aquatics Supervisor and/or Assistant Aquatics Mangers.
· This classification is the mid-level of the lifeguard series working under general supervision.
· This classification is categorized as part-time or seasonal in support of programs at the Kenwood Cove Waterpark.
Duties:
· Capable of fulfilling the duties of the Lifeguard I position, as needed.
· Supervises Lifeguard I’s in absence of Aquatics Supervisor and/or Assistant Aquatics Manager.
· Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility.
· Monitors designated areas & warns swimmers of unsafe situations.
· Maintains order in swimming areas.
· Explains & enforces waterpark rules & regulations to ensure the safety of all waterpark patrons.
· Assists with cleaning & maintenance of waterpark facilities.
· Uses hand tools to clean the pool & pool area.
· Prepares & maintains accurate incident & risk management reports.
· Administers basic first aid, if needed.
· Responds in emergency situations in any capacity within scope of training.
· Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education:

Experience:
· Employed for one (1) year in Lifeguard I position or demonstrated experience and/or skills to advance to Lifeguard II.
·Two (2) years prior experience as lifeguard is preferred.

ASSISTANT AQUATICS MANAGER
(18 yrs. of age or older)
· Works under the supervision of the Aquatics Supervisor.
· This classification is the highest level of the lifeguard series working under general supervision.
· This classification is categorized as part-time or seasonal in support of the programs at Kenwood Cove Waterpark.
· Applicants must have a thorough knowledge of Kenwood Cove activities, facilities, policies, & procedures.
Duties:
· Capable of fulfilling the duties of Lifeguard I or Lifeguard II, as needed.
· Responsible for assisting Aquatics Supervisor in overseeing waterpark operations.
· Performs all duties & responsibilities of the Aquatics Supervisor in his/her absence.
· Maintains constant surveillance of patrons & employees in the facility.
· Monitors designated areas & warns swimmers of unsafe situations.
· Maintains order in swimming areas.
· Explains & enforces waterpark rules & regulations to ensure the safety of all waterpark patrons.
· Assists with cleaning & maintenance of waterpark facilities.
· Uses hand tools to clean the pool & pool area.
· Tests & records water quality for temperature & /or pH levels.
· Prepares & maintains accurate activity reports, incident reports, & risk management reports.
· Opens & closes the facility.
· Administers basic first aid, if needed.
· Responds in emergency situations in any capacity within scope of training.
· Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education:
· High school graduate or G.E.D.
Certifications:
· Training available.
· Lifeguard training certification with Waterpark Skills from the American Red Cross.
· First Aid & CPR/AED certifications.
· Lifeguard Instructor certification preferred.
Experience:
· Employed for one (1) year in Lifeguard II position or demonstrated experience and/or skills to advance to Lifeguard III.
· Three (3) years prior advanced experience as lifeguard preferred.

Hours:
· Must be able to work from Mid-May to Mid-August during hours of operation.
· Must be able to work weekends and/or holidays (i.e. Memorial Weekend & Fourth of July) & special events (i.e. Smoky Hill River Festival, private parties).
