PARK & FACILITY MAINTENANCE II & III
Parks & Recreation / Ball Fields

Part-Time · Intermittent

PARK & FACILITY MAINTENANCE II 
This classification is mid-level of the park & facility maintenance series working under general supervision.

Duties:
· Responsible to fulfill the duties of the Park & Facility Maintenance I staff, as needed.
· Occasional use of City vehicles on public roadways to include large pickup trucks.
· Supervises the Park & Facility Maintenance I in the absence of full-time staff members or Park & Facility Maintenance III staff.
· Performs minor repairs to equipment.
· Performs routine maintenance & equipment safety inspections.
· Applies practices relating to safe equipment operation & maintenance.
· Prepares & maintains city ball fields, medians, & public facilities.
· Performs manual labor in the care, minor construction & maintenance of facilities & outdoor spaces.
· Maintains ball fields including seeding, mowing, watering, aerification, top dressing, planting flowers, weed removal, painting, fence repair, dirt work & related duties.
· Provides custodial services, including cleaning & repairing floors, restrooms, & removal of trash.
· Administers basic first aid, if needed.
· Responds in emergency situations within scope of training.
· Performs other job-related duties as assigned. 

Education:
· High school diploma or G.E.D.
· CPR & First Aid certifications desired.

Experience:
· Work experience in general landscape maintenance.
· Supervisory experience preferred.
· Grounds maintenance & equipment operation experience desired, minor construction, maintenance work, mowing, & tree care.
· Ability to perform intermediate to advanced work using equipment & tools utilized in landscape maintenance & repair work.

Equipment: 
· Zero turn field groomer, UTV vehicles, tractor, Linelazer equipment, trailers, & trucks.

Hand Tools: 
· Chain saws, blowers, power tools, hedge trimmers, sprayers, edgers.

Desired Qualifications:
· Must be able to follow instructions.
· Must be a self-starter & be able to work productively.
· Must have excellent problem-solving skills & demonstrate good judgement when completing job duties.
· Maintains a high standard of customer service.
· Maintains positive & cooperative working relationships.
· Works indoors/outdoors in changing environmental conditions; must be able to work in temperatures which often exceeds 90 degrees.
· Communicates well with patrons of various ages from diverse backgrounds.
· Demonstrates kindness to patrons & presents professional attitude at all times.
· Must be able to communicate verbally & in writing.

Requirements:
· Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
· This is a driving position.
· Must possess a valid driver's license.
· Must have reliable transportation to-and-from work.
· Must be available to work shifts.
· Must attend required trainings & meetings.
· Required to review posted event calendars.
· Must follow scheduling protocols & be able to obtain weekly work schedule.
· Must follow time & attendance guidelines must adhere to payroll requirements.
· Must be able to lift 10-40 pounds frequently.
· Must respond in a timely manner to all forms of communication regarding City of Salina employment by way of telephone calls, emails, texts, etc.
· Performs all job tasks according to rules & guidelines of Salina Parks & Recreations' safety program & weather alert procedures.
· Must pass background checks.

Hours:
· Monday-Friday
· 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., ten (10) hours/week minimum.
· August to May. Works through the winter months on projects.
· May include variable weekend work due to special events.
· Must be able to work evenings, weekends and/or holidays (i.e., Memorial Weekend, Fourth of July, Labor Day Weekend) & special events (i.e., Smoky Hill River Festival, private parties).

Pay DOQ EOE: 
· $14.04-16.04/hr.

 

PARK & FACILITY MAINTENANCE III
This classification is the highest level of the park & facility maintenance series working under general supervision. 

Duties:
· Responsible for supervising the maintenance & upkeep of city ball fields.
· Oversees daily operations including supervision of any seasonal maintenance crews assigned to the site.
· Responsible to fulfill the duties of the Park & Facility Maintenance I & II staff, as needed.
· Supervises the Park & Facility Maintenance I & II staff in the absence of the Grounds Maintenance Foreman.
· Performs minor repairs to equipment.
· Performs routine maintenance & equipment safety inspections.
· Applies practices relating to safe equipment operation & maintenance.
· Prepares & maintains city ball fields, medians, & public facilities.
· Performs manual labor in the care, minor construction & maintenance of facilities & outdoor spaces.

· Three (3) years’ work experience in general landscape maintenance.

· Ability to perform advanced work using equipment & tools utilized in landscape maintenance & repair work.
