COMPUTER TECHNICIAN
Computer Technology Department

The Computer Technician role is integral to the smooth operation of city operations. This exciting & challenging position offers opportunities to engage with technology, ensuring that the community stays connected & efficient. By troubleshooting & implementing computer systems, this role enhances productivity & contributes directly to Salina's progress & innovation. Duties:
Performs desktop computer systems-related tasks, including but not limited to:
· Assists in the implementation of desktop computers.
· Helps computer users with computer problems & problem-solving technical & operational difficulties.
· Operates host computer system; provides general computer network support.
· Responds to desktop computer issues; updates peripherals; loads & configures software; configures devices for access to host computer system; identifies problems & provides potential solutions.
· Maintains accurate & updated inventory; keeps detailed records of installations, testing, preventative maintenance, repairs, & detailed project logs & records.
· Documents all computer events.
· Provides general support to computer networks.
· Communicates clearly & appropriately to all department personnel; forwards unresolved problems to supervisor in a timely manner.
· Performs overtime as needed & other duties as assigned.

Education:
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Technology.
· A+ certification**

Experience:
· Four (4) years of experience in desktop computer hardware & software installation in Windows 10 & Microsoft Office 2010 or higher.

Requirements:
· Must live within 40-minute response time.
· Must possess a valid Kansas driver’s license.

Work Type:
· Medium, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
· Office setting.

Equipment:
· Computer, copy machine, fax machine, monitor, printer, scanner, tablet, & telephone.

Hours:
· Monday – Friday.
· 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
· On-call schedule rotation.

Starting Pay DOQ:
· $22.87-23.98/hr.
· $47,507 – 49,878/yr.
· Additional $1.50/hour paid for hours worked after 6:00 p.m. & before 6:00 a.m.

Paid Time Off:
· 48 hours of vacation available upon hire; additional 48 hours earned during the year (96 hours in first year).
· 96 hours of sick leave during first year.
