On-the-Job Training: New Custodians receive comprehensive on-the-job training from experienced staff. Our skilled team provides guidance in mastering cleaning techniques, equipment usage, & facility maintenance tasks, sharing their expertise every step of the way. Duties:
· Cleans & maintains various municipal & outside agency buildings as assigned.
· Sweeps, scrubs, strips & waxes hard surface floors; vacuums, shampoos, removes spots & stains in carpets.
· Dusts & polishes furniture, sills, blinds, woodwork, light fixtures, etc.; replaces light bulbs & fluorescent tubes; washes windows & walls.
· Cleans & disinfects restrooms & kitchens; empties & cleans waste receptacles; cleans grounds by picking up paper & trash.
· Performs visual checks on all mechanical systems, buildings, & grounds for repairs.
· Maintains equipment; performs minor repairs on equipment.
· Locks & unlocks doors, windows & security systems.
· Aids in emergency & storm related activities; shovels snow as assigned.
Education:
· High school diploma or G.E.D.
Experience:
· One (1) year experience with general cleaning & maintenance tasks in a commercial or institutional environment, such as offices, schools, or public buildings.
Requirements:
· Must possess a valid Kansas driver's license.
Work Type:
· Medium, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
· Inside work & minimal outside work.
Machines, Tools, Equipment:
· Brooms, carpet extractors, floor buffers & burnishers, hand tools, ladders, mops, vacuum sweepers, walk-behind & ride-on auto scrubbers.
Hours:
· Full-Time 40 hours/week: Multiple shifts Monday – Sunday.
· Part-Time 20-28 hours/week: Thursday – Monday.
Starting Pay DOQ:
· $17.05-17.90/hr.
· Additional $1.50/hour paid for hours worked after 6:00 p.m. & before 6:00 a.m.
Full-Time Paid Time Off:
· 48 hours of vacation available upon hire; additional 48 hours earned during the year (96 hours in first year).
· 96 hours of sick leave during first year.
Part-Time Paid Time Off:
· 24 hours of vacation available upon hire; additional 24 hours earned during the year (48 hours in first year).
· 48 hours of sick leave during first year.
